PLEASE help me! I cant play my favorite game!!

I reinstalled BF1942 after several years of not playing.* I have a new system now and these are the specs.. Dell xps 420...intel dual core 3.16ghz...4gb ram...500gb hd...32bit operating system...WINDOWS VISTA (think thats the prob)... with a 512mb nvidia geforce 8800 card...sigmntel high def audio codec.* I have all updated drivers on everything. I have completely updated vista (service pack 2)...I have the latest patches on the game..i have read forums over and over and they all say to run the game in window xp compatablity mode and to run as administrator..in which i have done. However, it still crashes!* Sometimes i play for 2 hrs ..sometimes it wont even load the map screen...most of the crashes happen in the changing map loading phase however i have crashed several times while playing. i also have latest direct x.* this is the crash info i get..roblem Event Name:*APPCRASH

i have no idea what else to do.* i play wow, americas army, ut 2004 and they all work fine... i have read lots of forums and other vista users say that the compatability mode/run admin have worked for them...but it dont for me...please help...BF1942 is a great game and im trying to get back int0 the swing of things to prepare for bf1943 ...which i read will be compat with vista.
