Toy Fair 2010: Day One: Don't Toy With Me

It's started! Well, actually, it started yesterday, but you probably wouldn't have bothered to read a bunch of blog posts on Sunday. So today's the first day of our Toy Fair 2010 coverage!

 

 

Head inside to read about the exciting opening parade of mascots. No, no, we're not saying a word out here, you'll have to head inside.

 

 

At 9:30am we were quietly taking a picture of this giant inflatable Bigfoot when we heard the sound of drums. Either the Time Lords were escaping, or there was a parade starting! As quickly as we could, we ran to the main lobby. and there we foundâ?¦ The Parade Of Mascots!

 

 

Alongside a marching band made entirely of clowns, the Parade of Mascots was open to any mascot of any kind. And there were so many different kinds of mascots! Some better than others!

 

 

You can see in this photo that our pals at ThinkGeek have a very broad definition of the word "mascot". But you gotta give the guy points for bravery.

 

 

That little bandicoot/coatamundi/space lemur thing was part of some inscrutable species only known to Aurora Toys, but boy, was it adorable. So adorable we even took some video just to drive the point home...

 

 

When you upstage an elf, you're really doing something right. And then, the mascots moved on, vanishing forever into the crowdâ?¦

 

 

â?¦leaving behind only the memory of The Parade Of Mascots.
