Being single can be tough. I always envied people who didn't seem to feel the societal pressure that says "being alone is weird. You're alone so you must be weird. Better fool someone into putting up with you quick or no one will!" Finding a significant other is a lot like landing a job: the longer you've been out of work the more suspicious it looks to potential employers. When you're married you can see a beautiful person on the street and say, "If I wasn't married I'd totally ask them out," without having to face the likely confidence-crippling depression.
So what do you do to break your slump? How do you convince yourself to get back on that horse, no matter how many times it tells you it's got a boyfriend? Well, if you're a blogger calling yourself asianreindeer you write
Approach from the Underground.
It's a simple yet brave project: every day the author asks a woman out. He blogs about the results, and when he can remember to turn his tape recorder on he records them. The results, as you might expect, are not so great. In fact they're SO not great that as of October 8 he doesn't seem to be updating the blog any more. We hope it's because he found a new love of his life and not because he carved his name into a beam and pulled a
Brooks or anything. Still, reading through the results it's tough not to root for the guy. If we could make one suggestion: maybe change the name? "Approach from the Underground" is pretty creepy sounding. Was "Lurking in the Shadows" taken?
