Games aren't always about distraction. Sometimes they can be used as a form of communication. Bears and dogs and feral cats, if you watch them at play, all have plenty of non-verbal signals that mean "Hey, back off!" So why can't humans do the same thing with their games? Well, we're willing to say that
10k Sniper is a game that sends a message. Let's face it, no boss is going to pass by your desk and ignore this:
In
10k Sniper, you're a sniper on a mission. There are SPECTERS in these skyscrapers, and apparently these SPECTERS are pretty slow and they like to stand beside open windows for extended periods of time. Hey, nobody's saying this is
Portal or anything. We all know HTML5 is still new, and the programmers are still working things out. But even a demo has some merit. And if you're working in a call center or just found out the new schedule has you working Christmas Eve, being able to do this:
might really hit your sweet spot. There's even a chance that a lunch break full of under-your-breath swearing and
10k Sniper will drop a non-verbal hint telling your boss that he needs to start planning ahead for the 2011 pay raise. Remember: the best kind of threats are implied!
But all kidding aside, you don't play
Super Mario Bros and then go fix your plumbing. You don't play
Sid Meier's Civilization V and then apply to the U.N. So don't be afraid of
10k Sniper. It's just a game, not a warning sign. And truthfully, if each SPECTER had a little Julian Assange head, the designer could probably get funding from the Pentagon.
